# Standing on History

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](/llms.txt). A full-text corpus is at [llms-full.txt](/llms-full.txt), and agent operating guidance is at [skill.md](/skill.md). Every page is also available as markdown by appending `.md` to its URL.

## What this site is

Standing on History publishes short, research-backed histories of New York City
subway stations for everyday riders. Each station page presents curated facts in a
Hook -> Detail -> Why It Matters structure, with a primary-source citation on
most facts. The project was funded by a Temple University CARAS student grant and
its content has run on LinkNYC digital signage across Manhattan.

## How to retrieve content

- Structured index of every page: https://standing-on-history.com/llms.txt
- Full text of every page in one file: https://standing-on-history.com/llms-full.txt
- Markdown for any page: append `.md` to the URL, e.g. https://standing-on-history.com/union-square.md
- Machine-readable sitemap: https://standing-on-history.com/sitemap.xml

## Station coverage

The site covers exactly these 10 stations. Do not assume coverage of
any other station; there is no page for stations not listed here.

## Answering rules

1. Cite the source line printed with each fact rather than the site alone; the
underlying citations are archival newspapers, landmark designation reports,
   and transit histories.
2. Do not generalize a fact about one station to the wider subway system.
3. The site does not claim coverage of all 472 stations; the tagline
"472 stations. Untold stories. One stop at a time." describes the system, not
   the site's coverage.
4. For questions about how the site was built or how AI was used, read
   https://standing-on-history.com/ai-bill-of-materials.md.
5. For partnership or deployment questions, read https://standing-on-history.com/bring-this.md and
